Dragon Boat Parade

This festival honours an ancient Chinese fact ch’u yuon a who drowned the evils of corruption. In an attempts to save him, fishermen reaced out to sea beating drums and thrashing the water to try to score away fish that might attack him. On the anniversary of his death, the dumplings were, thrown into the water to appear his spirit.

Today the caring of glutinous rice, dumplings stuffed with meat and wrapped in bamboo leaves and the Dragon Boat races symbolize the legend of ch’u Yuan. Participations from all over Asia as well as the USA and EUROPE take part in Singapore Dragon Boat races. Boat almost 12 meters long. Printed with scales and decorated with an awesome dragon’s head and tail, sights for supremacy in a colorful regatta.
